2010 Cure Breast Cancer for ME Award

Dr. Michael Jones (Spectrum Pathology Division) has been selected as this year's recipient of the Medical Care & Research Award bestowed upon the healthcare professional that goes above and beyond the call of duty to make a positive contribution to the treatment of breast cancer.

The Award is presented annually to the healthcare professional that increases knowledge / treatment of breast cancer through research or improves patient care, treatment and support through their clinical and non-clinical efforts. Dr. Jones was nominated by a patient that he diagnosed over a decade ago. The patient was particularly struck that Dr. Jones took the time to review her slides with her and she has continued to monitor the ongoing efforts that Dr. Jones has made over the past many years in this area. The Pathology Division has increasingly subspecialized and Dr. Jones is one of a few pathologists that focuses in breast pathology.

Past Spectrum winners of this award include Dr. Elizabeth Pietras (2005) and Dr. Celine Godin (2007). The awards luncheon is scheduled for Monday, October 4, 2010 at noon. Congratulations to Dr. Jones for his recognition for the dedication and efforts made in this important area of medicine!
