Procedure Description:

Intradiscal Electrothermal Therapy (IDET)is a minimally invasive outpatient procedure used to control back pain. IDET is used when there are cracks and ruptures in the disc's outer ring. In IDET a small amount of heat energy is placed in the area of injury. The heat contracts and thickens the disc wall collagen and often leads to closure and repair of the disc rupture.
