Otolaryngic and Oral and Maxillofacial Pathology (Head and Neck Pathology)
Head and Neck Pathology involves the study of diseases that affect the oral cavity and throat, the jaws, minor and major salivary glands, the nose and sinuses, larynx, and the ear. Examples of diseases include squamous cell carcinoma of the mouth or larynx, inflammatory, infectious, or developmental lesions of the jaws related to the teeth, tumors of the salivary glands, mucosa or bone, and autoimmune conditions. Accurate diagnosis of the numerous diseases that affect these sites is critical in determining the optimal treatment.
