Radiation Therapy for Benign Conditions - Heterotropic Bone Prevention

Procedure Description:

Following joint replacement therapy, your physician may recommend low-dose radiation therapy to prevent extra bone growth (heterotopic ossification). Radiation therapy prevents extra bone growth by not allowing the cells to grow and divide. Treatment is usually done within three days following surgery.
